Tintern Abbey – VR Experience
Interactive VR experience of Tintern Abbey created from LiDAR data.
Luminous Group were approached by Happy Finish with the task of creating an accurate 3D model of the O2 Arena to be used for a range of interactive and virtual reality applications.
To do this we used our Digital Surveys team to go out and laser scan all of the external areas of the arena.
As well as capturing the full externals from ground level, the team traversed over the roof dome walkway carrying out multiple scans. This created a very accurate 3D data set known as a point cloud. The point cloud feature billions of points of data. Our modelers then traced around this to create very accurate but optimized games engine assets. We were then able to put the models into the Unreal Game engine and build an interactive climbing experience.
