Why is VR so good for training?
VR is an exceptionally good medium for learning for many reasons. Firstly, you brain treats VR like it is a real life experience. When you are wearing a VR headset your brain is tricked into thinking the surrounding and environments are real. This can be extremely powerful in conveying different feelings such as dangers, fear or urgency.
In a well-crafted VR environment with a high level of immersion sensations are heightened greatly, standing on the top of a high building can induce extreme vertigo while the sensation of putting your hand through a virtual object or wall, even though you not it is not real can be very unnerving. This hyper reality can be used to drastically reinforce the learning experience leading to much better retention of knowledge.
